You’re not broken, so I’m not here to “fix” you.
With the spiritual community rising and so many stories out there, it’s common to hear the term “broken” when referring to difficult experiences in your past.
It is also common to hear words like healing and “work through it.” Due to social conditioning, even I use the terms often to make my point across in lay terms. Yet, in all honesty, they are outdated.
You are not a ceramic that “broke,” neither are you sick, needing “healing.” You are whole and aware of your stuff. We all have stuff. You don’t have cracks; you’ve reacted or responded to situations in the best way you could when they happened. Trauma is not there to “jade” you. Trauma is to be processed so you can transform yourself through the new options you now consciously claim.
My role is to assist, support, facilitate, help address and provide perspectives with exercises for you to consider.
I’m here to help you remember your greatness.
When you were born, you were born unique. In your uniqueness, you are a waterfall of resourcefulness. You have talents you’ve tapped into and talents that still await your awareness. Your skin might be one shade or tone, yet you carry many roles within you that each holds its own color, energy, and vibe.
Some traits are shared with friends and others with lovers. This is what I mean when I say you are colorful and, therefore, great! I intend to hold space for you to indulge in your colors, vastness, strengths, and uniqueness.
I’ve provided therapy to clients who are considered the “scum” of society. Yet, through our collaborative adventure, I gained awareness of the power of determination and the miracles that happen when you allow second, third, or multiple chances to uplift you. I’ve witnessed inmates with life sentences engage in creative writing of poems and books and express their determination through vulnerable conversations around love and wanting “different.”
The best lesson I’ve gathered throughout time is that we all want more, and we all want it from a place of loving connection.
My clients learn I am not just a one-hour supporter. I’m a lifetime contact.
No matter your needs, our work will be collaborative and heart-centered.
Here, you’ll receive more than just talk therapy. You’ll receive loving care.
Many times, we get tired of talking. Has it happened to you? Tired of revisiting old situations through conversation. This is why some of my favorite services are chakra balancing, Reiki or guided meditations, or visualizations.
Through exercises, I’ll take you through a nature path that will lead to surprises or even characters presenting themselves with physical emotions or feelings. When open to them, you’ll also receive messages just for you. When we listen through the heart, we really hear.
By the way, I am also the one that will speak to you directly when you call me – no third person or agency. When we agree to explore this together, you’ll also have my direct number. I will also remind you of our set appointments and share community events when available.
Here are some approaches we might take…
Narrative approaches…
… hold the belief that you are the creator of your reality, and by exploring your narrative(s), you can redefine your plot twists and opportunities.
Positive psychology…
… offers a variety of interventions to facilitate positive emotions, well-being, growth, creativity, relationships, fulfillment, and other desirable outcomes.
Energy psychology…
… melds more scientific notions of healing and wellness with traditional healing wisdom, such as in Chinese medicine or certain religious practices (e.g., Reiki or chakra-balancing).
Holistic approaches…
… stem from the belief that nothing is ever broken and there is nothing to “fix.” Your healing journey seeks to reveal the health and wholeness that lie innately within you.
Psychodynamic therapy…
… explores why we do what we do and offers various interventions.
Mindfulness practices…
… increase your awareness and focus on the present (e.g., meditation or visualization).
Community approaches…
… value connection to community resources and the wisdom of members of your community (I offer a monthly “Wisdom Gathering”).
Other “alphabet soup” approaches…
… are common in talk therapy. Feel free to Google them if you want to know more: CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and TIR (Traumatic Incident Reduction).
Getting started…
First things first: It’s important to determine if I’m the right person for you. During our initial phone consultation, I’ll make sure I’m the right person to support your therapeutic goals. If so, I’ll also explain what to expect at intake and moving forth.
For our first encounter (aka “intake”), I’ll learn all about your story, including your supporting actors/cast members, plot twists, and all the fun (and not so fun) events that stand out for you.
Based on our conversation, I’ll propose a plan of action. If it speaks to you, we’ll schedule your first individual counseling session. I promise… I’ll be nice. I’m usually not too scary.
If you prefer to connect virtually (available only if you’re in Florida), I’ll send you all of your intake documentation electronically to have it in hand for your first telehealth session.
Give yourself credit for being here!
You’re already here, so if you think about it, your new journey has already begun!
I know therapy might sound cliché or even outdated when you have a loved one (or that soft voice inside your head) asking, “Why go to therapy? You don’t need therapy.”
Yet, trust me, there’s nothing to lose emotionally or physically. If anything, stepping out of your comfort zone, even once, is proof that you’re ready for more and ready to explore shifts and other options. So why not? I will be kind, I promise!
